Goodbye 2009, Hello 2010

Disclaimer: Writing about the year that was is a new year trend which I do every year so bear with me. 🙂
The year 2009 marks the end of the first decade of the new millenia and this decade is by far, the most memorable one for me – made a lot of life-changing decisions and changes:
a) Graduated with honors, passed the board (not in the top 20, but managed to land somewhere in the top 30)
b) Worked for four different companies, resigned from the 4th on the last weeks of the decade
c) Went to five different countries in Asia (Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Vietnam,Singapore)
d) Went to some of the best beaches in the country and in the world – Palawan, Boracay, Bohol, Cebu (I’m not including Subic and Batangas coz the beach is not so good)
e) Published some more of my essays(sporadically though)
f) Got married and had a kid
g) Bought my (our) first car and house

But of course, we should always strive for better things so, my to do/to buy list for the coming decade includes the following (no particular order):

a) Travel to Europe – I’m afraid this would have to be out of my own pocket. I was not fortunate to be assigned to a European market at the office so unlike many of my officemates, I never got to visit the queen for free.

b) Visit five more beaches in the country – Pagudpod, Caramoan, Camiguin, Laiya (yes, it’s just two hours away but I haven’t been there) and Davao?

c) Buy my first designer bag – this was supposed to be my gift to myself this year but since I resigned from my job, had to be more practical. I want a Balenciaga and Bottega Veneta after all and that would set me back by a hundred grand at least!

d) Buy a house and lot – one in the city, another by the beach

e) Publish some more, hopefully a novel? Hehe, hey this is my wishlist after all…

f) …and hopefully (again) win some awards along the way

g)  Find the job that suits me best (I should have been an actress, or a model, not an accountant!!!)

h) Buy that turquoise ring and earring set I’ve been coveting for years (I did manage to buy a tourmaline ring/earring set as a birthday gift to myself this year)

i) start my own business – probably food or fashion-related

j) be more involved in charities and the Church

k) spend more time with my family – this is the main reason I quit my job at P&G. I’ve always said that what nourishes me, also destroys me. My job afforded a comfortable life but it drains me, and takes me away from what matters most and it’s ultimately not worth it AT ALL.

So, what’s on your list?
